Okay, yes, I'm insecure and have body image issues

But I have a motherfucking 1911 .45 and a badass holster with matching gun belt, so I'll suck it up and post pics of my rig. Ignore the poochy tummy and flat ass. (I can no longer mock wirecutter).

I swear to God I'm the world's worst selfie taker. And I'm so getting back to the workouts.

On a more technical note, I'm having issues, I have a belt loop at 3 o'clock.
have to puthe holster in front at 2, nope;
or behind at 4. If I skip the loop, I can wear it a little behind 3,
which is most natural for me. Buthen it's not as secured and floppy.
Just going to have to play with it some more.

Buthe buckle and embossed III on the left rocks.

Update:

I just got off the phone with Dennis at Dragon Leatherworks. I got my own "how to put on your new holster" tutorial. Dennis called me after reading my issues and informed me I was wearing it wrong. Not shocking when one considers I can't figure out garter belts either. So in a few minutes, Dennis walked me through putting on and taking off the holster with the belt in ALL loops.

Pants secured, holster secured, firearm secured. And that's what you get with an Artist who makes custom pieces for individual Patriots.  You get custom individual attention. And he didn't laugh at me once!

Still waiting for someone to call from Victoria's Secret and help me figure outhis stupid garter belt.

Hey, c'mon, you're a woman; you must have a sewing machine or at least a needle and thread.

Move the belt loop!

Just do what I have done for 30 years. Skip the belt loop, and wear suspenders!

Or stay stylish, and do what Paulie said.

Griz, you have to wear suspenders around 36Ds?

Very nice setup!

I didn't know that you were a southpaw, that 'splains a few things... Welcome to our exclusive wacky club!

those are mirror selfies. I'm as right as rain, Angel eyes, but teen queen is a southpaw. Being a ginger AND a southpaw would have been just too much.

Well, you're just off enough to be an honorary member, then. That's meant to be a compliment y'know.

Try wearing it crossdraw; On your other hip with the grip facing forward. I find it not only more comfortable but you can also draw while sitting (or knocked on your arse). It will also depend on how much tilt the holster has.

DragonLW said...

eatgrueldog - its not a cross draw rig. The holster is not DESIGNED for cross draw. Carrying it cross draw would be unsafe.

DragonLW said...

eatgrueldog - the link below shows a proper cross-draw rig (which I built for Kerodin a few weeks ago).

A paddle doesn't provide the proper stability for cross-draw. Take a look at the picture at the link below. You'll notice that the holster is a pancake style (keeps the gun VERY tight against the body) and the slots are spaced as far apart as possible so as to provide excellent stability of the holster on the belt.

The paddle rig that Angel has just isn't suited for cross-draw.

That's a big assed shooter to carry on the hip especially in the car. I don't like taking guns out of holsters in public so I can get in the truck. Look at shoulder rigs. Not right for the beach but they have their place. Of course it wouldn't be a purty as that one.

Nope, my ass is flatter than yours.

At least you don't have a "dunlap". That's where your gut dunlapped over the belt.....(like I said; here all week; tip the waitstaff please.)

Flat ass? As long as my balls don't drag on the mattress it's all good.

And as Wirecutter and Angel attest for their holsters, the crossdraw rig Dragon built is simply perfection. Everything about it is right - from the angle to the retention, to the "Sunday Best" workmanship and finish.

That is a helluva nice holster and belt. Belt looks like it will last a long time - good leather will do that.

Nope, you aren't even close to being the worst selfie taker. I have hundreds of really good ones of my thumbs, although the best is a natty shot of my left ear. I tried the whole mirror thing but being a a male whose only mirror is that small shaving one (used for irregular beard trimming duties) the results were … er, limited.

The leather is a work of art but as to position I 'have' to carry (when I'm in a civilised country) at 4 (or preferably crossdraw) as multiple rib/collar-bone/scapula fractures over the years (service boo-boos) kind of limits my flexibility so I just don't have the flexibility to draw from a rig that high on a belt anymore (yeh, CC is a pain).

Body image issues? Why? I have some 'relaxed muscle' around my stomach and I haven't had kids. Most men actually find normal women attractive (rather than the anorexic 'gay (fashion designer) mens fantasies of what women should look like' stick insects). And what's with the whole big-ass fetish everywhere now? Only Latina and Africans tend to have the … err, wherewithal genetically so if you're white and have a big ass … it's fat (what are we, baboons now? I'm waiting for some ostensible female 'singer' to paint hers blue before twerking. Incidentally, did you know there's a lot of confusion over here about that term as 'going T'werk' is what most men do to earn a wage).

Just so's you know I am a recognised (well I recognise me anyway) expert on suspenders (garter-belt to you colonials) – on others before anyone (Wire) makes a comment. I'd offer my services but … we need pics to see what the problem is ;- p

Since no one from Victoria's Secret has posted about the garter belt, I would like to volunteer to help.

Southpaw eh? I've always been confused myself. Except for rifle shooting. Shouldering a rifle "left handed" is downright impossible. I used to compete in IPSC pistol shoots, and I found that I shoot equally as well with either hand, but I found that when I go to the "weak" hand, Left, I automatically switch to my left eye to sight. The weird thing is, in competition, I found that after switching back to "strong" hand right, I stayed with the left eye. Left eye dominant. I throw left, kick left, write right, have no trouble eating or drinking with either or both hands, but hate/refuse to shoulder a rifle or shotgun left handed.

That's a mighty nice rig you got there.

With my G&G paddle holster, I thread the belt through the back slot first, then the "3" 'O' clock belt loop, then the front slot on the holster, and finish off normally. Works for me. My Springfield 1911 A1, all but disappears under a shirt jac, or even a big flannel shirt, untucked of course.
Cheers! It's Friday, and I escaped my little computer cave I supposedly work in.

I move belt loops and add them as needed. I save the belt loops from jeans that I get rid of. I like to move and add loops so I can lock my holster in place between to belt loops. Very secure!

KM said...

So I'm guessing rear holster loop, then belt loop under the holster (between the holster loops) and then forward belt loop and then forward holster loop?
I have to wear mine that way when I open carry. Gives a good 2-3" of lateral adjustment depending on holster/pants.

KM said...

Sorry - that should have been holster loop, belt, holster then belt again....damn bourbon.

DragonLW said...

All,

If you are threading your belt through certain loops, then through the paddle, then through loops...

YOU ARE WEARING YOUR PADDLE RIG INCORRECTLY!

Sorry for the ALL CAPS, but I'm asking sincerely to please stop offering advice to Angel on how to wear the rig I sent her. I ask this because I called her personally and did my on-the-phone-tutorial-and-instructions on how to properly put the paddle rig on, how to properly wear it, and how to properly remove the rig.

Now....with almost ANY paddle rig out there, you DO NOT need to thread your belt a certain way, you don't need to add/remove/change the belt loops on your pants, etc. This is because a paddle, any paddle, is supposed to go between your body and your pants. The paddle is NOT supposed to be between your pants and your belt. That paddle is supposed to be stuffed IN YOUR PANTS and should be getting very intimate with the skin on your hip (if you are commando) or rubbing up against your skivvies/panties (depending on your gender....unless you're in California where all bets are off. Just ask Wirecutter.....)

OK...apologies to those who's sensibilities I've managed to offend. Please rest easy knowing that I've not only built for Angel the ultimate holster, and provided the sturdiest damned belt money can buy (just ask Wirecutter....he'll be posting a review of his belt shortly...) but I also did my value-added customer-service follow up to make sure that she knew how to wear and care for the new leather.

I'm off my soapbox now. :-)
