Nothing wrong with it though, as it's a pretty utopian ideal.

Simple question: Do your morals state that it wrong to molest children, beat your wife, steal, etc?

And if so, do you believe in using force to make others abide by your morals?

Libertarianism has just a bit too much moral relativism for me.alcadenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-612801744889562315.post-1439122065175100872015-07-07T10:52:17.911-07:002015-07-07T10:52:17.911-07:00"The whole "do what you want" so lo..."The whole "do what you want" so long as you don't hurt anyone strikes me as incredibly naïve - about like the left saying that if we gave up our guns and dissolved the military we'd usher in an era of peace. Fascists (except the Nazis who knew the wrongness of their actions) believe they can strike a balance between Capitalism and Communism. Theocrats believe they are saving the masses from themselves by outlawing behaviors contrary to whatever holy book.

Humanity, as Robert A Heinlein said, divides itself between those who want to control others and those who have no such desire. Those who seek to control others often do so believing that they are doing good. Their followers tend to believe that the concept of free will is a bad thing.

Libertarians do not support a government big or powerful enough to impose one group's morals on the other, and they support unfettered gun ownership; something that Republicans and Democrats do not. An armed society is a peaceful and tolerant society.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-612801744889562315.post-69608673739416273212015-07-07T10:38:57.008-07:002015-07-07T10:38:57.008-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-612801744889562315.post-59051430584006457812015-07-07T08:07:25.070-07:002015-07-07T08:07:25.070-07:00I need a citation for this, because I can't fi...I need a citation for this, because I can't find a reference for that anywhere.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-612801744889562315.post-37861229945882948512015-07-07T07:39:42.772-07:002015-07-07T07:39:42.772-07:00Sounds nice, but it's also not true, as a quic...Sounds nice, but it's also not true, as a quick Google search would have revealed. This is also why I stopped considering myself a libertarian, although my sympathies are generally with their ideals. They don't count it or count against it on your taxes, on your welfare applications, on your student loans, in divorce courts, on your Social Security, on your military pay and allowances. NOTHING. Then marriage goes back to where it needs to be: in the hands of a few hundred million religious fanatics.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-612801744889562315.post-51989773463108848802015-07-06T12:00:02.375-07:002015-07-06T12:00:02.375-07:00McCarthyist propaganda does not tell the whole tru...McCarthyist propaganda does not tell the whole truth about the communist agenda and its relation to love and sex. The communist endgame is not one where people - straight or gay - would ever be in love. Communists in power have traditionally enforced puritanism with the power of the state, because personal relationships run contrary to collectivism.

Gays are often singled out for brutality in communist countries, and Cuba was one of the worst. Che Guevara had a strong hatred of gays (and blacks), and he saw to it that Megele-style experiments on gays in attempts to "cure" them of their homosexuality (http://www.udel.edu/LAS/Vol14-2Tahbaz.html).

As for the Republicans, using the power of the state to enforce tradition is itself a form of tyranny. Unfortunately, many who vote Republican do so believing that using statism to fight statism will produce a condition of freedom.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
