In the Navy, Ensign is the equivalent rank of 2nd LT. Now, most everyone knows that 'bulkheads' are 'walls' in Navy-speak. What most do not know however is that we sometimes referred to Ensigns using the same terminology.

As a Marine Officer, I can honestly say that Ensign is a bit lower then a 2nd Lt. of Marines. And probably a bit higher then the Air Force. And as a Combat Engineer, I never once got stuck in my own wire. Of course I listened to my Plt Sgt. Chris in Houston
