No freaking wonder

It is amazing to me that any young girl grows up with a decent body image and self-concept. When your role models are Disney princesses and Barbie,and they set ridiculously high ideals  for physical looks, no average, normal female can hope to measure up favorably. Artist Nikolay Lamm took the average measurements and created a 3-D image of what a normal 19-year-old woman's body would look like compared to Barbie. Every girl should have one of these.

    Totally not related to the subject you posted on, but how in the world did they get Barbie to stand on her own?!?! I tried for years to get mine to do that and they never could.

    It's nice to see a normal looking doll. We actually don't have barbies at our house and I'm happy to keep it that way.

    Nearly every 19yr old I see is at least as wide as she is tall.

    Stripes are on clothing to make sure she's walking instead of rolling.

    And, as of late, age = IQ.....if we're lucky.

    I'll stick with my 49yr old. She looks more like the original Barbie, and at least age x 3 = IQ.

    Yeah....smarter AND prettier than I am.

    Barbie doesn't even register as looking like a "person" to me. The rubber and plastic girl on the right looks like real people I've seen.

    The crap we put on girls its no wonder y'all have body issues. My six year old watches Barbie ad the Disney princess movies all the time. I wonder how this will effect her. She's already 4.ft tall and 80lb. Her mom's family is all Swedish and German with some of them running over 6ft in high school.----Ray

    Ah, well I had the cool Matell plastic guns back then. They did not teach me to shoot any better than Barbies taught girls how to be girls. Your mileage may vary, check local stores for details.
