I remember thinking that when I lived in Texas. My last summer there we had 92 straight days over 100. Including the days we has a short early morning rain storm. 100 degrees isn't really that bad, unless the humidity is 95%. SW's family is in Yuma Az. were the temps are regularly over 100. But the low humidity makes it a little easier to bear.
When it gets in the 90's here in Iowa, the locals act like it's the end of the world.
It's pretty hot but that's part of the price we pay.
