And now, the EPA has decided that wood fires aren't even green enough, and declared war on rural America. Fuck Obama, fuck the environmentalists and fuck the EPA.
While the EPA’s most recent regulations aren’t altogether new, their impacts will nonetheless be severe. Whereas restrictions had previously banned wood-burning stoves that didn’t limit fine airborne particulate emissions to 15 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) of air, the change will impose a maximum 12 μg/m3 limit. To put this amount in context, the EPA estimates that secondhand tobacco smoke in a closed car can expose a person to 3,000-4,000 μg/m3 of particulates.
Most wood stoves that warm cabin and home residents from coast to coast cannot meet that standard. Older stoves that don’t cannot be traded in for updated types, but instead must be rendered inoperable, destroyed, or recycled as scrap metal.

The time is coming, or maybe here already to just ignore them entirely. Just because some un elected, un accountable buttwipe of a career government employee in DC puts some words on a paper, does not have to affect your life. Just tell them to fuck off...You can bet your asses that their houses surrounding the beltway are just warm and toasty all winter long.
ReplyDeleteSo what now? Just sit and freeze your asses off?
ReplyDeleteFreezing is what they want. Easy population control. Look at Europe and you have your answer. They've controlled things so much and priced things so far out of the realm of 'normal' folks. They've had tens of thousands die from cold over the last few years and it doesn't make the news. They want the same thing here, and that's a good way to do it. Assholes, all of them.

I am waiting to se how it will be inforce, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Stop listening to them. We are Americans dammit. Heat your homes as you see fit, and dare them to do something...RESIST!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with the above. Heat your homes. As long as you're not burning babies to do it, I don't really give a flying squirrel fart how it happens. If it isn't endangering anyone else, its all good. And as someone who's survived Boy Scout fires where some youngun used green wood and diesel to get the fire going (not me! I used a whole can of OFF instead.), a little smoke won't kill you and will dissipate fairly quickly.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of pollution from burning wood is exactly equal to the amount of pollution from wood decaying in the forest. Just at a different rate. This "new" EPA finding is total BS.
ReplyDeleteBurn your wood and fuck the government. Put incandescent bulbs in every light fixture in your house and fuck the government. Grow your own vegetables, raise your own livestock, buy guns and a shitload of ammo, do whatever you see fit to live your life as best you can and fuck the government.
ReplyDeleteWe have a wood stove that was here when we bought the house 6 years ago. Is the EPA going to come here and tell me I can't use it? I don't think so. What authority do they have to come into my house and tell me I can't use my legally owned stove. They can come and take my stove, right after the gunfight.
ReplyDeleteThe new EPA specs are so tight you could exhaust the stove into some industrial clean rooms.
