Professor? Question?

What if you collapse a fart bubble?

  1. Sonoluminescence. When the bubble collapses, the water vapor in the bubble heats up, similarly to how diesel fuel heats up and auto-ignites in a diesel engine. The temperature in a collapsing water bubble gets high enough to glow.

The collapse of the Obama debt bubble will be far more spectecular.

  2. Specifically the luminescence is caused by electrons jumping from higher to lower orbitals as energy is lost. Simply put, the energy added to the system by the sound wave which collapses the bubble comes out as light as the electrons drop to a ground state from an excited state. You can use sound waves to heat metal to glowing too, which is pretty nifty.

Play nice. None of you are too old for a spanking.
