"One of the officers went to her home after the shooting and spoke with her, saying “Ma’am we’re dog people, too, but we couldn’t let them fight.” (blogger's note: Willy Pete was RETREATING) He then apologized to her and offered to bury Willy Pete for her.
State Police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous said that they’re still searching for the suspect, however, he declined to comment on the dog being shot.
“It’s counterproductive and it’s only serving to fan the tension,” Baylous said. “We have had several people responding to us in a very irrational way (blogger's note: "irrational" is code for "unacceptable") and we feel that it’s counterproductive to comment further.”
A Facebook page called Justice for Willy Pete was started to support Sweat and her tragic loss. As of this writing it had just over 4,100 likes."
I am heart broken for the dog's family and enraged at the police who seemed hell bent on killing a dog. WTF is wrong with the law community today? One day, there's gonna be a reckoning.
ReplyDeleteCondition us to accept the murder of our families and friends? I don't know about Texas; but here in the "back east" they kill anyone they want to NOW and nobody says a thing. I went to my seven year olds first grade "field day". There were two LEO's in a room full of first graders and soccer moms, who sat there the whole time silent-backs to the wall in abject terror. The look in their eyes that of multi tour combat vets deep behind enemy lines. I have no doubt, having looked into those eyes that they would have sprayed that class room with heavy machine gun fire or flame throwers without the slightest hesitation. We my not be at war with them (YET) but THEY sure as hell are at war with US.---Ray
ReplyDeleteFor an idea of what should happen to dog killers, check out the chapter "Dead Man's Holler" from Mike Vanderboegh's novel, "Absolved."
ReplyDeleteIf this lets me paste the link, read it at http://westernrifleshooters.blogspot.com/2008/08/vanderboegh-dead-mans-holler.html. If the link doesn't go through, you can search for it (and then of course you'll be in an NSA database somewhere!).
