Somebody did not connect what they thought they were 'saying' with what it actually says. Similar to an acquaintance who has G4S STY... have not told him STY spells a word with two meanings.
Glory hole is a centuries old miner's term for a mine where someone's found the mother lode, a vein of very pure ore. Since the vein is pure, almost all the rock removed can be sold, so the profits are high. Since Virginia has a lot of miners, perhaps that is the reference.
