Makes you wonder what an editor does

He pitches righty, lefty, AND underwater.

  1. Editors suck out the very essence of your soul.

  2. It's spelled correctly, so what's the big deal? Geez, you're acting like they used the wrong word or something.

  3. Yeah Angel, why you hatin' on Aquaman here, he appears from the photos like he's already suffering from having to breath oxygen and everything . . .

I wonder if Kaitlan whatever his/her/its name is now throws like a girl ?

  5. I wonder if any of the commentators here can spell "ambidextrous" or know the word the editor was supposed to use?

  7. The editor didn't write it, Apparently the editor didn't read it either or he is more of a idiot than the writer.. The idiot whose name is on the byline is the author of this piece. Either way the quality of AP writers is going from appalling to non-existent.

  8. When I worked at the local paper many moons ago, we'd pull AP or UPI copy but we'd be responsible for the headline. All that's provided by new services is copy. A larger paper will have proofreaders, smaller papers the editor usually does it.

My, what a quandary. It is a question for the ages, isn't it?

  10. It is a play on one of Yogi Berra's "quotes", this is a sports writer doing their job with a little homage to a great player who could murder the language.

  11. "He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious."

    Yogi Berra

Maybe the headline writer should have used quotes around the word?

But this guy didn't know he was using the wrong word:

“Left hand, right hand, it doesn’t matter. I’m amphibious.” – former NC State basketball player Charles Shackleford, back in the late 80's

  12. I remember when Bill Bradley (not the basketball player/politian, but the football player from Palestine,Texas...yes, same school that gave us Jim Saxon and Adrian Peterson) and ended up at UT and the press agent, waxing eloquent said "he can pass with either hand, punt with either foot....and think with either brain"....
