I can relate, I have several different types of scissors, shears and snips in my various toolboxes. All of them have a specific purpose and some of those fuckers are expensive.
Grew up with a beautician mom. Learned early not to use her hair scissors on anything other than hair. Almost forty years later and the bruises may still be visible. I'm pretty sure a pair of Ghinger tailors shears would make short work of anyone!
Married to a licensed cosmetologist for 25 years. When her scissors got dull early on I said "let's just replace them" She laughed and and showed me that the cost on those things was around $400. We sent them out to get them sharpened and overhauled by a pro for around $50. I'm a knife and gun collector, licensed aircraft mechanic and degreed engineer and I take care of my own equipment but this was worth it. I Have not paid for a haircut in 25 years and she has taught be the basic of haircuts as an added bonus. Happy Wife, Happy Life!
"Scissors!!" 'Have dozens! Cutting nylon is always fun but not as much fun as kevlar!!! Depending on the type of cloth or webbing ya' eventually get to the point where ya' break out the Big Guns....The Hot Knife!!! That especially with webbing. We're working on Parachutes, canopies and related components!! 'Have my own stone, sharpen them and all my knives myself!! BSBD, III%, skybill-out
