Y'all come back now!

I always coveted the role of Mona Stangley in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. And while I look good in lingerie, I can't sing a lick, so I'll probably never realize that dream either. Some of the fine ladies to have played Mona on Broadway are Carlin Glynn, Fannie Flagg, and Anita Morris, all three fine ass redheads. Why on God's Green Earth, they went with a busty blonde for the movie, I'll never know. But Miss Dolly did just fine. 

Now Wirecutter, I know you're sitting there scratching your head, so I'll lay it out for you. BLWIT is about the famed Chicken Ranch, a brothel outside of La Grange, TX and famously celebrated by ZZTop in the song by the same name. Miss Mona is the Madame of said establishment. And if I could have sang a note, I would have played the fuck out of that role.

    when I was incarcerated in College Station in the late 60's, early 70's, that esteemed establishment was still in operation on Texas soil....and, of course, we all knew that all the girls were u.t. coeds working their way thru school.....

    I recognized the sign for Shady Ladies brothel, it used to be operating just north of Beatty, NV but it closed down sometime last year.

    And I had the same recollection about that movie that WC has :-)
