Poppy's the handsome dude on the far Right. |
The local newspaper did a little special story on the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out), Poppy's one of the regulars. I thought I'd share this with y'all.
"Listening to the group of coffee drinkers, who meet at McDonald’s most mornings, is like watching a Chinese ping-pong match; it’s hard to keep up with the back-and-forth banter between members.
The group calls themselves the ROMEOs (retired old men eating out), although they do have one female. They call their group “fluid” with members changing over the years, but they do have some members who are regulars. This group includes: Willie Johnson, 91; George Papach, 90; Bill Chumbley, 80; Don Watson, 71, and his wife, Jan, 67; Dan Hall; Gary Peterson; John Fox; Larry Morgan and Chris Hoyt."

The Old Mill Cafe in town has the same kind of crowd, they all sit at the U shaped counter every day and the group flows in and out, changing all day long. And yes, the Old Mill has provided them with hats and Tshirts.
ReplyDeleteAround here they're known as The Liar's Club and if you ever here some of the war stories and bullshit they throw around, you'd know why.
Wirecutter, Poppy swears everything that's said in the presence of Jan is the absolute truth. What's said when she's not there? Well, that's a different tale.
