A decade ago -the last time we spoke- my mom tried to justify it on the basis that she wanted to explore relationships with men other than my dad and figured if I still lived at home I would be judgemental...

ReplyDeleteWhen each of my sons turned eighteen, I made them a plaque with a broken plate, a rolled-up fork and a newspaper ad advertising their room for rent.

Pops woke me up on my 18th, wished me a happy birthday and then told me to either have a job or be moved out by the time he got home.
