  1. For inexpensive wine both are okay on their own.

  2. Pinot Grigio can be very drinkable IMHO....... Moscato on the other claw... Overly-sweet Junior League panty remover, usually seen being smuggled in (along with Lambrini/Lambrusco)to under-age dances by spotty but ever hopeful yoofs.....

Typed with the assistance of 50+ years of weary cynicism, experience & memories, while looking sadly at the newly emptied bottle of South African red on my desk....

  3. Bryn, I'm currently hooked on Argentinian Malbec, a deep rich red that pairs well with beef, cooked over fire and eaten with a smokey gaucho.

  5. Malbec, yes indeed, very more-ish with or without food. Judgement on the gaucho, I leave to you, ma'am..... :)

  6. Returning to wine after years of neglect and avoidance. I must confess I am a bit disturbed by the photos in the mom van. Please tell me you are only hiding from the teen queens, and are safely in the driveway.

And if your kids drive you to drink, make sure they know to pick you up when the bar closes even if its past their curfew.

  10. Concha Y Toro (Frontera), and The Show, are my malbecs of the moment, and on a saturday or sunday when I have been grilling some dead cow, I do a pretty fair smoky gaucho impersonation, Wise Angel One.....
