The first image in the page shows a fairly traditional Cornish pasty (aside from the packaging) - note the thick crust on the round edge, this is the part they held with their tin-ore covered hands, and this portion of the food was discarded (most tin compounds are toxic)
Back when I worked for "Scurvyirvin" (both in So.cal and NC) they had this stuff from DOW called "Vydex!!" it was Silicone suspended in a freon base. Ya' paint the fluid on cloth and the freon evaps leaving the silicone embedded in the cloth. really great when you have nylon against nylon at "HIGH SPEEDS!!" like most of our Parachute deployments!! Trouble was the stuff would become a fine powder and get all over everything!! i usedta, get a piece of cardboard and scrape the stuff on the packing tables like "Monster lines of Cocaine!!" (as a Joke..Hey guys...wanna line!!) Well the stuff ain't no good fer yer innards had one lady that worked there that got so sick off the stuff the docs said it screwed up her Liver big time!! That was one thing... but if ya' got some on yer fingers and went out for a smoke break, the stuff, getting on the cigarette, you smoking it will screw you up royal!! One of the reasons why I have lived so long after being exposed to this stuff is I think it coated my arteries with silicone so the fat cells just slide by!!!!! Maybe good stuff after all!! Got Gunz....OUTLAW!!, III%, skybill-out
just ask my wife about my tuna and bondo sandwich.
ReplyDeleteYeah man. Synthetic improves the taste I think...
ReplyDeleteNever cared for the transmission fluid but 80/90 weight ain't so bad. Brake fluid really sucks.
ReplyDeletesaves on the mayo.....and you should try a cowboy lunch at branding time, "oysters on the half shell, right off the iron heater"....
ReplyDeletevaquero viejo
I HATE brake fluid. Even when it is cold it feels warm...And it is usually running down your arm...

ReplyDeleteThe tin miners in Cornwall, in the distant past, had their own way of dealing with this sort of issue.

Mine are usually WD-40, instead of motor oil.
ReplyDeleteSometimes flavored by pilchards (a saltwater baitfish).
I forget what "normal" tastes like.
I've had many a sandwich like that. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
