today's 20-somethings need "safe spaces" from "scary words"
and these kids kicked ass in World War II.
Since you probably can't read that, it's Dallas Public Library, circa 1900.
I'd venture closer to 1920, add 20 years and those kids are in their 30s kicking ass.
you learn things outside your "safe spaces".....

A larger percentage of them could read too.
ReplyDeleteSafe places, ignorance, 24 hr a day media & banks too big to fail. Sounds like we have arrived at our "Brave New World".
Heck. Any of Spanky and Our Gang could kick those safe space needing and hiding wussies across the street, down the road and into the river.
ReplyDeleteThat even includes Alfalpha. My goodness. Darlene is even tougher than the pansies and snowflakes that progressives schooling has deformed into existence.
And I am talking about them at any age. That is even as little kids they were tougher than modern day wuss.
Butch up, babies.
Now?
ReplyDeleteI worked as a sub, I'm not sure how many times I've seen little signs that say:
Sticks and stones may break your bones but names can REALLY hurt you!
Depressing.
... these kids kicked ass in World War II.
ReplyDeleteThe ones that survived...
Getting hit in the head with a swing seat taught a kid to watch out and be aware of things around you. Falling off the high bar taught you to hang on until you could get down, playing 'King-of-the-hill' teaches leadership and a lust for power. Sadly kids today aren't allowed outside to play, get dirty, and develop an immunity to germs.
ReplyDeleteNow they are obsessed with what is on their I-pads, and walk out into traffic.
No spacial awareness whatsoever. (sigh)
