Amateurs

I have struggled, a lot recently, over whether or not to just chuck the blog. And I'm sliding toward the chuck side of the hill. Some days it's just not worth it. A lot of days it's not worth it. I struggle to find something that explains what's in my heart and soul, pull the curtain back and let you people see what's inside, and you excoriate me over a fucking typo. That wasn't even my typo; I'm just too fucking tired, stressed, and busy to re-type a meme to your exacting standards. I'm pulling a Hillary and taking a break, I may or may not be back after the election. I may be too busy.

  1. Take a break if you need to. I have been Blogging for over a decade now and have had to just walk away for a while myself once in a while. I have noticed that you are stressed the hell out lately and didn't mean to cause you any grief personally. I know I'm not one of your favorite people in the first place but I am rather fond of your grit and sense of humor either way.

  6. If it is no longer fun then do not do it. I do want to thank you for helping me out with my blog and throwing traffic my way in the past. You (and Wirecutter, and Miss Lisa) were great to me and I appreciate it. I hope to see you back sometime.

  14. Damn Sis, I hate to see you go for selfish reasons. I've been with you from day one. Even before when you were pissing Kenny off on his blog. I loved that !!!! Look at your numbers and you know you are loved and exalted above us mere mortals. First and foremost take care of you. Tell the world to take an airborne intercourse at a round moving pastry. Or in our world " take a flying fuck at a rolling donut" I shall wait for your return and pray for your good will and health.

  18. Firs: Do the Blogging because you want to. No other reason. If you like it, keep it up. If not, stop....be it for a little while, or forever.

Realize that some people are assholes. 10% are perfect, 10% are psychopaths that really should be killed just on general principles to make the world a better place (Only civilization and laws against murder keep them alive)...The rest of us are somewhere in between.

Ignore the idiots. Tell 'em to go away. If the persist, mar 'em as "spam" and they will disappear.

But, stay or go, do it for YOU.

However you must do what is right for you and your family.
I have enjoyed your blog over the years. Kindered souls that think alike. This nation is falling apart. I would understand that you need to collect your thoughts and protect your family. It is going to get very crazy very soon.
I will be here to read your thoughts if you choose to put them out there.
I wish you and your family the best and y'all are in our prayers.
God Bless, whatever you choose to do.

  34. Don't let the idiots get you down. What kind of pedantic doink comments on typos, anyway? I really enjoy your blog; I check in regularly, but as someone else noted, I am not much of a commenter. I admire the strength of character that comes through in your posts. You make me laugh regularly, but your blog is for your enjoyment- do what's best for you. Thank you for the time you've shared with us!

  42. Verily. Sayest thou any who over a typo grow wroth and wax ineloquent to you cruel and malignant, "I say to you scoundrel, Carest thou not for mine manner of expression? Sally thyself forth, and fornicate thyself sideways with a naphtha fueled chain-bladed implement of iron covered in rust, in the orifice of your own choosing. Darken not my door with your uncouth mutterings. Hie thee hence from me, for to you have I not one fornication to offer, nay not one.

As for mineself. Your daily musings and exposition are a light most glorious in hours dark, filled with trepidation. Verily, a nepenthe to a weary soul; an island of maniacal whimsy and mirth in the vast and rolling sea of idiocy that is our shared species. I will await your return peacefully, wishing you rest and recuperation.

    Sincerely

  43. Well, I for one would be sorry to see you go. You've provided a lot of entertainment as well as thoughtful insight to your friends and family - yes, we ARE family.
But as I recall, I've 'quit' something like 3 times and came back better and stronger each time. Sometimes a break does a body good.

  49. No. You can't. There. Then again, I guess you can - what else can I or anyone else say to it? It's your life, your decision but you would be missed. Don't know why some folks rant about nothin' at all. I generally can't BUY a comment on my blogs. I always figgured that's 'cause my thoughts are pure and unadulteratable and b'sides, I always say everything that needs to be said and that's that. Either that, or I'm long winded enough so folks are too warn out trying to read my posts to comment afterwards. I dunno. In any case, enjoy your hiatus.

  55. I'll tell you the same thing I've said to Ken in the past. If doing this becomes a chore, drop it. Walk away. You don't owe anything to anybody. If you want to do this you'll come back. If you don't, you won't and you shouldn't. It's really that simple. Having said that, I do like reading you. I like the way you think.

  61. Dear Lady, I adore your blog. I also understand that you have a lot on your plate at all times and with the added stress of maintaining a blog and the election crap, it can become over-whelming. 67. Angel, I know I haven't commented much lately, but I still read. Your blog is one of the bright spots in my day. Your posts are always either thought provoking, poignant, hilarious, or just flat out interesting. You do what you've gotta do, for you and your girls first of all, and the rest will fall into place. If this blog is a part of that falling into place, (and I sincerely hope it is,) then so be it. If not, you will be missed.

Assholes will always be assholes, and as I'm learning, you just have to acknowledge their assholery and move on. There are so many that love and care about you. I hope you remember that more than the assholes.

Sounds almost as if someone planned it!

Babe, there ARE people out there who do plan things like that. I can't say you're one of their victims but I'm pretty sure those vile people would be happy to see you go. Take a break and come back to poke fun at TPTB. We have plenty of chest-beating, saber-rattling, rifle-waving bloggers out there - we need you too. On those occasions when it seems like the load is too heavy to bear, think of Nathan Hale and what he paid for our freedom.

I envy Kenny, he got to meet you.
