This ain't your grandma's root cellar

  1. Okay, finally a root cellar you can have in buggy Florida.

I kinda like it, a lot.

Rather wish it was a cube, as that is more efficient for storage, but I see why they went with a spheroid, as that forces the user to provide airspace around their product.

    1. Also, the rounded shape would be structurally stronger and easier to mold.

  3. I would think the shape is more of a structural consideration. And the groundwater temp may be 59F in Denmark but I think it'd be more like a food steamer than a reefer in Florida.

  5. A root cellar but definitely not a refrigerator. You need to avoid the 40F to 140F range to keep from killing yourself with your food. This is just not cold enough.

    1. Think of it less like a fridge and more like a root cellar.

Of course where I live it would be useless. Frost heaves, anythink burried less than 8 feet deep and without anchors will be squeezed to the surface by the frost. So the first spring would see it pop right out of the ground.

People in florida would have issues because of water table and boyancy.
