And on it goes...

Monday, Week 6 of the Bathroom Quagmire.

No end in sight. Contractor has been absent for two weeks due to a misordered tub, then a week-long conference in San Francisco. Over a week ago, it was "We'll be there Monday bright and early." Today it was a text at noon, "Just touched down in Dallas."

This was supposed to be from the "Total Bathroom Renovation in 3 days" guy. Six fucking weeks, three of which I never saw a single worker. I will never ever hire another contractor to save myself from a little work.

  1. It will take three days, but you have to nail down *which* three days.I deal with body shops and they work the same way. It will be done Thursday... Which Thursday?? Grrrrrr.

  2. Yeah!

Rebuilding the house I had a drywall contractor promise "We can do the job in three days!".

He did. One day a week.

Of course I had scheduled floor, painting and finish carpenters to follow that (assumed) three (consecutive day) schedule; cancellation meant that all of them rescheduled us for weeks further down the line.

    I feel your pain.

  3. You need a new reaction box right next to "fuck the fed" that says fuck the contractor.

  5. Photos of their trucks with logos prominent Also thier lying assed ad; if they don't complete the job between now and Thursday. No warning, they don't deserve that sort of consideration. Splatter their sorry assed name all over town.
What they are doing makes it hard for the good guys.

  6. Check your contract for language about schedules and delays. You may have some remedy. As Anon said above, there are many good, legit contractors who don't operate like that.

  7. Get a lawyer and File for breach of contract. He'll get it done in 24 hours. I had one of the "ripoff willies" try me about ten years ago. After three weeks of "I'll get back to you" We filed and he had it done in ONE day.(three days later) Then we forced him to give our money back and BBB black balled him.(I also filed with the state AG's office) He went out of business (and out of state a year later) Turns out he had a little problem with the pony's and hookers...and not paying his bills..or filling contracts. ---Ray

  8. Things like this inspire me to do my own work. I know it looks like shit, but I'm the only one that looks at it.

Besides, it keeps me off the streets and out of mischief.

  9. Send him a text that you've found a new contractor to finish the job and he will not be getting paid then tell him to take you to court if he has a problem with that. He'll be there tomorrow morning "bright and early".

  11. Is this guy's name Dennis?

Four months to do a 3 to 4 day job and I had all supplies on hand. I finally fired him and finished it up over a weekend.
