This is one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs, it's been special to me from a very young age, and I never really knew why. Then as I got older and realized sometimes the people I loved weren't going to be home for Christmas for various reasons, it hit. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, your heart will always be home with those you love.
Now everybody and their dog has recorded this, from Twisted Sister to Doris Day, but this is one of my very favorite renditions. Sometimes, you just got to let the country out for a stroll in the moonlit snow. Enjoy.
My favorite version of "Christmas Bells" is by John Gorka. Then there's "By the Fathers Love Begotten" with Martha Reikow playing cello, from the same Windham Hills Christmas sampler. It's a silly reason for tears.
Home is surely where the heart is.

ReplyDeleteJohnny Cash is my favorite singer. I don't particularly like country music but I like Johnny Cash. My favorite song is " I've Been Everywhere".
