I know a guy with a Hi-Point. Its not near as pretty as a Glock, XD, or a 1911; but he has run a shit ton of 45's through it. It never fails to go BANG. ....and THAT's what counts. The rest is just cosmetic. Besides, not everyone can pony up for a 650+ dollar pistol. HP's NEW prices are cheaper than what you can get a beat-up, surplus, CZ83 out of J&G Sales. We can mock him for being a douche, but a man's choice of weapon should be his own.
I have handled, fired many pistols including hi point. Every mans choice is fine. However the HP is the most unbalanced awkward gun ever built. They do work good but they feel awful. And to pose for a selfie with your hello kitty phone. That is what makes him that jackass
Right on Nic! If you're comfortable with what you got, you'll probably be good with it. Reliability is the key if you have a unit that functions correctly with compatible ammo installed. I've rarely met a 9 that couldn't handle anything. I put much factory ammo through a Walther and a bunch more reloads before the frame started to wear. My version of "hello Kitty"
1988. huge yellow stray was terrorizing my cat. Smart animal didn't let me get out the back door to shoot before he bolted. Saw him one day, and snuck out the front and went around the side, and squeaked like a mouse. 10-22 at shoulder. cat comes around corner looking, and gets nailed. Touche'
David's HP may not be the most ergonomic piece I've ever held, but it was no more unbalanced than my brother's P90 Ruger. They both are top heavy. The HP's grip was fairly comfortable, and recoil - for a 45, was quite manageable; but that comes from the weight. Sarthurk makes my point for me. David was comfortable with its operation, and handled it competently. Dave also acknowledged that it wasn't in the same league as my Glock, or his father's Sig. He definitely wanted to get something "better" when he had the resources, but insisted he would keep the HP no matter what.
Believe it or not, the early HP 9mm is rather small and slim. It was too small for my hand. My dealer was impressed with it's function for what it was - a good entry level self defense weapon.
OK, back to the knob in the picture. We've all taken photos of our weapons and shared them with friends..... Hey, check out what I just bought!! Taking a picture of yourself, with your weapon, to show how bad-ass you are, is just posing! Worthy of scorn. Taking a picture of yourself, while sneaking out Dad's pistol, while using your sister's camera phone..... is just pathetic!
