Sorry for being bitchy

I kinda got a little bitchy over a comment last night. Normally, I would just shrug it off, and keep going; but I'm suffering serious sleep deprivation and I just snapped. Last night, I managed to get to sleep around 12:15, BabyQueen was up at 2:30, Teen Queen up at 2:45, both running around until about 5 am, then TQ up at 7, BQ up at 7:30, and I gave up at 8. I've managed to log in a whopping 8 hours of sleep in the last 72. The insides of my eyelids are lined with 40 grit sandpaper and my brain functions are veering dangerously close to psychotic meltdown territory.

Both of the girls have suffered hyperactivity and insomnia since they were babies. There were a couple of years while they were toddlers when I managed on 3-4 hours of sleep a night.  Starting school was the best thing that ever happened to me. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped them off at school in my pjs knowing I was headed right back to bed. Summer is hell. We're together 24-7 for 3 months. Nowhere to run to, baby, nowhere to hide.

Now add in a healthy dose of PMS hormone influx. I swear, the 7-10 days before their periods are hell. TQ has been up an almost constant 48 hours. BQ has managed a couple of naps, but I haven't been able to sneak one in there. We're currently giving the girls 50 mg of melatonin, 2 mg clonidine, 5 mg Abilify and 2 tbs of ZZZZQuil. Nothing. Like giving 'em Red Bull. So I've got a call in to their dr. to see what other options we have short of clubbing them into unconsciousness.

So please forgive me, I've got hopes of a full night's sleep tonight, and I'll be back to my normally sunny self.

Me 'ats off to you, Angel. I see the same thing with my two oldest grandsons, except it's Asperger's.

My d-i-l, their mother, is like a saint to me.

That's quite alright! I lost lots of sleep when our power went out due to weather. Trying to get a report in with a 2G signal with 1 bar was fruitless. In any case I hope that anonymous also had a bad night. Thanks for all your great posts, they are immensely entertaining!

Have you tried feeding the girls turkey for supper? Praying that they and you can get some sleep soon.

Duct tape seemed to work well on my girls. Wife, not so much.

Melatonin and Southern Comfort!

As to your own sleep deprivation- DO NOT read the linked article on American Digest about Russian Sleep deprivation experiments.

Clubbing - that sounds about right. Hard to do without leaving a mark, though.

Damn it!

" Nothing. Like giving 'em Red Bull."
Try a beer, then a good meal, and a small bowl of hooter for desert. No promises, but that will knock me out in 20 minutes every time.

For me, every night it's one Lorazepam and two Tylenol PM. After the 3am bathroom visit, a few Advil. Bad back, stress, too old, too fat. Better living through chemistry, and sleeping in separate rooms (my wife and I both snore like chain saws).

Have you tried filling the house with opera music in the dark while requiring them to watch silent PBS documentaries?

Why would I do that to my Cute Chicks?
That's just cruel.

I feel for ya Angel. Just took Mandy in for a revamp on her pills and I'm hoping it works. It's not so bad on me though with going to work, its kind of like a vacation. 2 months ago she finally started her period oh joy lol but she has handled it better then what I thought she would do. Hope things get better soon Chickie! Hugs!!!!

Angle,

Try NO melatonin for 2 nites, it won't matter if they aren't sleeping, and then REDUCE the dosage to 5 mg and see how that works. You may have to go to 10 mg.
Sometimes a high dosage will have reverse effects. Just give it a try and see, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Also, hyperactivity can be lessened with a cup of coffee or some tea. Just stay away from the sugar. Better to use natural stavia as a sweetener.

Good luck, we had 1 child and 1 grand child who were like this.

Angle:

Sorry this is late..but, have you checked the warnings on Abilify and clonidine? They are very scary. And why the antidepressants that will actually cause insomnia? Not to be too negative but, you might start questioning some of these meds and the doctor who is prescribing them.

Good luck,

General C Lemay when asked about women in the military said " there is nothing wrong about them serving save for the fact that they are crazy the 2 weeks before during and after their periods. : )

God I loved that guy.
