I used to love going into my great grandpas garden and my gramma and grampas garden...
would sneak their tomatoes:)
I garden too or did. Now the price of water is so high I can't afford it. I used to be able to SAVE money gardening. Now? not so much.

One of my "jobs" as a kid. I was rewarded shortly after by the overloaded table of fine Virginia cookin... Holy smokes...

I used to help Grandma shell peas until she realized I was eating more than I was putting in the bowl....
I love fresh peas right out of the pod, so sweet!

We put up everything. Canned, frozen, butchered. I even know how to make soap. One of my buddies told me when I moved out West years back "Do you know how much you'd been worth 150 years ago? You know how to stretch fence and castrate sheep!" No one knows how to do anything anymore. Heck, I still own a corn cutter!

In my own defense, I wouldn't eat 'em, couldn't see why I had to shell 'em.

Bless your pea pickin' heart. Shelling peas on Grandmas front porch during summer visits to Arkansas was one of the best memories. Sneaking a few for a snack, then proudly taking the bowl into the kitchen to add to the feast that was being prepared by the Aunties.

I detest canned peas, I abhor frozen peas.
I love fresh from the garden shelled peas!
Snow peas barely sautéed in a stir fry; yummy!
Am I inconsistent?
Who cares? I am the one eating it!
