You are not wrong. Each and every one of the SFs I've met from different countries are not shouty or pushy or boastful. They do not even look mean. And they have all been great company. They do not deserve the politicians who take them for granted.
If you're referring to the use of "their" with a singular subject, it is gaining acceptance as a politically correct gender neutral option rather than saying "his or her" or the more stilted "one's". The plural "minds" is on the bubble, but acceptable when "everyone" is considered plural.
ummm, in the context as presented, loosing is rather appropriate of the "their" people... and, damn the grammar, thanks for the thought, Wise Angel One....

Well said Angel.
"when everyone around you is screaming and loosing their minds"
I'm surprised you posted that, Angel, given your passion for correct grammar and spelling.
"Empty barrels make the most noise." was one of my grandfather's favourite sayings.

You can have my one's after you pry them from my cold dead mouth.
"when everyone around you is screaming and **loosing** their minds"
Well crap.
"Their" isn't the problem.
"loosing" is the problem.
Are they losing their minds? Or turning them loose?
And I'm not going to start on "hiim".
If y'all are going to nitpick every little thing, I'm going to take my crappy cataracts and go home.

vaquero viejo
The first lines of If -
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
Since all and theirs are plural and gender neutral, Kipling demonstrated the solution over a century ago.
I wasn't picking on you Angel but rather the creator of this meme. The misuse of lose and loose is one of my pet peeves.

I'm "loosing "my mind right now with a couple cold beers!
They call hiim "Wirecutter"
Well, since people are pointing out words that seem inappropriate.....ahem......hiim?
