You know, I wish I was a little shocked

Remember last year when Presidential Offspring #1 spent Spring Break at a Mexican resort with her Sidwell Friends classmates? Wasn't that fun? Well, they've topped it this year, just a couple of weeks after Sequestration passed and Obama closed the White House to the public because of "tightening the belt" cuts, BOTH daughters jetted off to the Bahamas for their Spring Break fling on the taxpayer dime. I really, REALLY wish I could say I was shocked at this stunning slap in the face of the American taxpayer, but I just can't. It's almost too crass to be shocking.

Here's the beautiful Atlantis resort where the Obama kids are freeloading for a week. Yeah, yeah, I know, "they're just kids, they didn't pick their parents, it's not their fault." Can ONE of you think of a time in your family's life where "tightening the belt" didn't affect you as well? Can you think of ONE occasion when money was tight but you still got everything you wanted? I hold absolutely no hope that these two will grow up any less self-absorbed and entitled as their parents. I just pray to God they don't go into public "service".

So, where are y'all going on your vacations this year? Yeah? Me neither. I've got to go scream into my pillow now.

I've gotten so lazy, part of it is mental fog due to fatigue and illness and part is due to increased demands, but it's been a while since I've posted anything of true value. (Except for my new knife, that was gold.) But I do read everybody else's blogs and y'all are posting some very good and worthy thoughts. THIS being one of them. Have you ever been reading something and then realize you're nodding your head the whole time? Yeah, THIS one will do it. Please go read it, much better than anything I could put up today and it deserves attention.

I was googling The Lonely Libertarian because, you know how us narcissists are, I needed a Monday morning ego boost. At the top was ME in all my redheaded insane glory, two down was wirecutter's intro to my blog (thank you again wc, you Blogging Wizard), and then a couple more down, THIS:

I think I took this the wrong way

According to the anonymous commenters and emailers, I'm already destined to spend eternity roasting in Hell, so I think I'll go ahead and post this. Let's see how many other twisted people read this wrong.

Camouflage Cupcakes!

I started out with 2 box mixes, one chocolate, one white.

Divide the batter into 4 bowls.
...

1: White batter.

2: White batter with green food coloring and a dash of chocolate batter.

3: Equal parts chocolate and white batter.

4: Chocolate batter.

Mix the different batters together until you get the colors you want. I ended up with a lot more chocolate batter than the rest of the colors, but I ended up making a few plain chocolate cupcakes to use it up.

Line a cupcake tin with paper liners.

For the batter, you can either use spoons and dump little blobs of each color into each wrapper, or you can get fancy and use pastry bags. I chose to get fancy with bags. It makes filling the cupcakes tins a little easier and a little less messy.

Just drop a bunch of blogs in each wrapper until they’re all about 3/4 of the way full. Bake according to the directions on the box.

Once the cupcakes are done baking, pop them out of the tins so they can start cooling.

I used this recipe for icing. Buttercream Icing

 Dividing the icing into 3 bowls. Keep one batch white/ivory. The other bowl you will add a little bit of green food coloring and a little bit of cocoa powder until it’s the desired color. The last bowl you will add cocoa powder until it’s the desired color brown.

For the fancy swirled icing, take 3 pastry bags. Fill each bag with it’s own color of icing. Take all 3 bags and put them into 1 larger bag with a start tip in it.

Pipe a swirl onto the tops, and you’re done!
