Guilty Pleasure Songs

Okay boys and girls, I'm in a light, silly mood today. First breath of freedom in a month and I'm letting my hair down. Was working out and one of my guilty pleasure songs came on, and it started me wondering. What are y'alls GP songs? What comes on the radio that makes you turn up the volume and sing with gusto, but only if you're alone because if anyone knew you like that song you'd have to kill 'em? What song makes you boogie in the living room, not like no one's watching, but like everyone's watching and they all have money to tuck in your drawers?

C'mon, don't be bashful, it's just me, Angel. Nobody will know. I'll tell you mine; Freedom, George Michael, Word Up Cameo, Tainted Love Soft Cell. Now show me yours.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Van Halen's Running with the Devil or Panama.

OK, GP songs. In no particular order.

1. Thank God I'm a Country Boy - John Denver

2. Love Will Keep Us Together - The Captain and Tennille

3. Funky Cold Medina - Tone Loc

4. Brandy - Looking Glass

5. Hotel California - The Eagles

Hotel California is probably my favorite. I'll play air guitar to that song any old time... as long as I'm alone. :-)

Those are all good except for Hotel California, which is a Rock Classic, and therefore can not be a "Guilty Pleasure". You should be ashamed if you DON'T like Hotel California.

And I do air drums on Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight.

Abby, Rob Thomas - YUM. When smooth comes on the radio and I'm driving, oooo girl, the family fears for their lives.

Also have to add Dobie Gray's Drift Away. I want to meet the person who isn't compelled to sing along with that one.

In the mid-80's, in college, I went through a big depression period. During that time, I liked hearing "Material Girl" by Madonna. It was kind of a cut off your nose to spite your face thing, as this was something I wouldn't listen to during any other period of my life.

I'm sickened just posting this.

I still live Duran Duran, though.

Now, when I was just a little boy
Standin' to my daddy's knee
My poppa said, "Son, don't let the man get you
Do what he done to me"
'Cause he'll get you
'Cause he'll get you now, now

And I can remember the fourth of July
Runnin' through the backwood, bare
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin'
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Chasin' down a hoodoo there

Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Lord, Lord

Wish I was back on the bayou
Rollin' with some Cajun Queen
Wishin' I were a fast freight train
Just a chooglin' on down to New Orleans

Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Do it, do it, do it, do it, oh, Lord

Oh, get back boy

I can remember the fourth of July
Runnin' through the backwood bare
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin'
Chasin' down a hoodoo there
Chasin' down a hoodoo there

Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
Born on the bayou
All right, do, do, do, do

John
