Bloom County/Outland are the classic of classics. Calvin and Hobbes or The Far Side too. Still have my Bill The Cat doll, Deathtongue rules! My favorite amongst the newer ones is Pearls Before Swine, but it doesn't really compare.

Which begs the question - where are the great comic strip artists of today? The internet is full of mediocre strips but I have yet to find one to equal the work of Larson, Breathed or Watterson.
I can't say they're to the level of Larson, Schultz, or Watterson, but I still regularly read Order of the Stick(not sure who the author is) and Real Life Comics(by Greg Dean). I WOULD read Digger(by Ursula Vernon), but that one ended a couple of years ago.
8-Bit Theater(by Brian Clevinger) and Bob and George the Comic Strip(David Anez) are a couple of classic web/sprite comics that also ended a couple of years ago. I actually spent a week re-reading most of Bob and George.
Digger was amazing, though, and I can not recommend it enough. If she ever puts out an omnibus edition I'm going to buy it SO FAST!

I've taken a liking to Red and Rover by Brian Basset. Another great boy and his dog strip. And I keep looking for a dog like Rover.
