A quick catch you up on my week. Monday, I took the Cute Chicks to the Lake Meredith Harbor pool for a nice swim and then we stopped at my favorite little deli (Walmart, don't judge me) and picked up some dinner. Teen Queen had a rack of ribs and a head of lettuce (as close as she comes to salad) and Baby Queen and I had grilled chicken spinach salads. First mistake.
Monday night was a bit uncomfortable, but Tuesday all hell broke lose. BQ and I were battling for bathrooms. It seemed like our intestinal tracts had converted to Islam and were trying to kill us from the inside. Fever, chills, aches, pain in the gut region the likes of which I can't describe. Now imagine all of that in BQ who doesn't know what's going on and can't communicate her distress. I felt horrible that I couldn't offer her much comfort with my head in the toilet. The only blessing is that she's young and resilient. She suffered for 24 hours, and recovered by lunch Wednesday. I, however, am old and shitted. I spent Tuesday night on the bathroom floor covered with a bathmat and using a pile of dirty laundry for a pillow. I started hallucinating, thinking I was l lying on the concrete deck next to the lake pool, burning up but unable to move. I also kept seeing people perched on the vanity table like gargoyles just watching me.
I called my mom as soon as the sun came up yesterday. Sometimes, even moms need a mom.
My folks came over, Poppy rode herd on Teen Queen, while mom took BQ and me to the doctor. I love my doctor, she's actually a Nurse Practitioner, but she's awesome. Anyway, cultures revealed we were suffering from listeriosis, the God awful result of listeria in either the chicken or the spinach. Calls were made, antibiotics were given, instructions were given, and we were released to my mom's care. I came very close to being hospitalized for IV fluid, but I promised I'd drink the required amount of Pedialyte and take my meds.
We got back home, BQ headed straight for my bed and I crashed on the couch. The master bedroom seemed unreasonably far away. The folks stayed until they were sure we weren't going to die. The worst of it was past, it was just time for rest and recovery. So on the couch, laptop on the ottoman next to me, typing with one or two fingers depending on my mood, I caught up on the world. Imagine my surprise when I saw all I had accomplished Tuesday night.
I vaguely recall writing the Wolf Pack post, but it was supposed to be a rough draft pending approval by Anya. I guess I got approval because it was posted late Tuesday. Don't remember posting. Also, sometime during the day/night on Tuesday, I composed and posted a thing on table manners that I don't remember but seemed to be well received, googled "bacon bourbon" and started a file of recipes (odd for someone who was puking up food from the '80s), and created 28 wirecutter memes. Thank God I waited for sanity to return before I posted one of them, because most of the memes were, um, interesting/disturbing.
So, the sun rose today, we're all still alive, I'm 15 pounds lighter than I was on Monday, and you guys absolutely ROCKED the Wolf Pack's world. They are stunned and grateful for the open generosity of the Patriot community. Anya is trying to write thank yous to all who donated, but she also wants me to post a group thank you from them. Thank you again for coming through.

glad you guys are on the mend.
Not sure what you have planned, but a phone call to a lawyer may be in order so you can explain to wally world just how pissed of you are that they poisoned you both..
You can tell her from me a simple 'group appreciation' letter to the whole clan is plenty. I didn't send a contribution (snail mail so its still enroute) to be thanked with a personal letter / note. The family that has to move households has plenty of better stuff to do with their time then writing and sending letters. Not to mention all of the postage - waste of money better spent on getting their Life back on track.
The great feeling of contributing to a WORTHY CAUSE is plenty thanks already, WE ARE GLAD TO HELP.
I was glad I was able to play a bit part with assisting the family. I hope the turn in fortunes continues to their advantage as they get themselves settled.
Mark, every little bit helps, not just financially, but emotionally and spiritually. In talking with them, it seems they feel more at peace and confident knowing they have the prayers and support of the Patriot community.
Bless you, child...do take care of yourself....there are better ways to lose weight....
