I love the Bolo series from Keith Laumer and various other authors (who continued the series after Kieth passed away). I never get tired of them even though many of them have downer endings.
I've read quite a few like that. The one that sticks out in my mind the most is Pet Semetary, when Gage died I had to put the book down for a day or so.

I still remember the first time reading Misery. That was some freaky stuff, especially for a man.

I wasn't aware that books existed that couldn't have this effect?
If you can't get into a book, it's probably not worth reading.

I consider it a good novel when I realize that it's now 3am and I was supposed to be asleep hours ago.
