B, I respectfully disagree. True chivalry is not conditional. A true gentleman will treat a woman as a lady even when she doesn't respect herself enough to act like one.
Sadly, after enough tries, many of us give up or become discouraged by the "Ladies" we meet. They don't act like ladies, they take advantage, and they don't respect nor appreciate chivalry.
A lady gets chivalry because she expects it. Many of your sisters don't, and don't care.
Although I imagine myself to be one of the perverted ones, my Mommy taught me to ALWAYS be a gentleman. And my Dad's belt ensured I paid attention to my lessons. God bless them both!
However (comma) in the word's of Robert Heinlein: A true lady takes her pride off with her knickers and does her whorish best!
It's hard to be a gentleman in today's world. I had my head bitten off by a woman because I opened a door for her. I also can't count the number of times I have been chastised for calling a lady - ma'am.
Being a Gentleman is not a matter of choice, but of upbringing. Regardless of the woman, a Man does what he should. Most men these days were never taught, or equate it with weakness. Then again, most women do the same. True Men and Women are still out there, but rare. Most are either on this blog or WC's.
I think there's a lot of overlap between here and wc's, Mr. Miracle. If we ever get in a fight and part ways, the custody battle for y'all will be epic.

Just like getting banned by a particular someone is a matter choice. Right, HWA? *snicker, snicker* Oh look at the time! I have to go hide now!

Chivalry appears in the presence of ladies.
Most of whom have also vanished.
It is a two way street.

True...to a point. He should attempt to do so.

They (sadly) expect less, and get it.
I used to fancy myself a gentleman. I gave it up.
The benefits are few, far between, and simply not worth the risks involved.
