I should know what series that's from. Even though I have never seen said series. But I don't.
On the topic, though, people on this site might like a series called "Suisei no Gargantia," it's about a guy who was raised in a fascist society and is suddenly dumped in a more or less libertarian one.
Also it has giant robots. Everybody likes giant robots, right?
