"Lighten up while you still can..."

Well I'm a-runnin' down the road, tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a-standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a-runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We outghta take it easy

In case you didn't know, you can actually go stand on THE corner in THE Winslow, Arizona...right here: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/12603

My buddy and I stopped there while road tripping out to Gunsite Academy in 2013. Very cool and worth the short detour.

I need to get a flatbed Ford and head that direction.

My favorite concert ever was outdoors, the Hotel California Tour with Jimmy Buffet playing for about an hour and a half to open, and the blue lights on the hotel set and Joe Walsh etal cranking up just at dusk. I was 17 or 18, strong, and feeling pretty good with a hopelessly gorgeous girl riding on my shoulders for the entire show. Thanks for a great evening Debbie B. Wow. 6ShotsOr5?

How sad. Yesterday I made my quarterly trip down to Cairns and bought Eagles 1972-1999 CD collection. Played the hell out of it nearly at full tilt. Today I woke up to realize Glen Frey had passed. At least we have their fabulous music.

Yes, it is a good song, sung by the Eagles, but this was written by Jackson Browne.

It was co-written by Browne and Frey.
Jackson had "Standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona" and didn't know where to go from there. Glenn came up with "such a fine sight to see, it's a girl My Lord in a flatbed Ford slowing down to take a look at me." And then they finished it together.
