The most chilling line: "She said the police didn't produce a warrant until two hours after the raid began, and officers shielded their name tags so they couldn't be identified. According to ABC affiliate WFAA, resident Quinn Eaker was the only person arrested -- for outstanding traffic violations." Hid their freaking nametags? Oh hell no. Read the whole damn thing.
We're hearing more and more of this sort of thing - the militarization of our police forces. This raid was truly bizarre:
Members of the local police raiding party had a search warrant for marijuana plants, which they failed to find at the Garden of Eden farm. But farm owners and residents who live on the property told a Dallas-Ft. Worth NBC station that the real reason for the law enforcement exercise appears to have been code enforcement. The police seized "17 blackberry bushes, 15 okra plants, 14 tomatillo plants ... native grasses and sunflowers," after holding residents inside at gunpoint for at least a half-hour, property owner Shellie Smith said in a statement. The raid lasted about 10 hours, she said.
Local authorities had cited the Garden of Eden in recent weeks for code violations, including "grass that was too tall, bushes growing too close to the street, a couch and piano in the yard, chopped wood that was not properly stacked, a piece of siding that was missing from the side of the house, and generally unclean premises," Smith's statement said. She said the police didn't produce a warrant until two hours after the raid began, and officers shielded their name tags so they couldn't be identified. According to ABC affiliate WFAA, resident Quinn Eaker was the only person arrested -- for outstanding traffic violations.

Shielding their nametags sounds to me like a good sign these are not actually police officers, but thugs and criminals wearing costumes.
At least, that's how I would explain the bodies with the multiple gunshot wounds.
Chopped wood that wasen't stacked right? Really?Tick tick tick goes the old clock....WTF is next, instant execution if your grass is too long?YAY AMERIKA!!
Someday, and it may be sooner that they think, they are going to raid the wrong house. What are they going to do when 15 or 20 of them storm a house and the subject, with nothing to lose, blows the shooting match to kingdom come. Cops and all.
How about the deaf farmhand here 20 years back that shot and killed 2 SWAT members when they crashed though the door of his trailer. His crime? Nothing - it was a wrong address. He was in his 70s and they were looking for a crank lab.
I don't recall if he survived or not but it seems like he did.
Kevin @ smallestminority points out that a parallel civilian military is being built in the U.S, because it is illegal to use the U.S. Military against the civilian population. Link
and Obama promised that he would do it Link
I read this on several different sites and no matter how they try to spin it this is still totally wrong. Yes she was notified to clean up her property, no she didn't go to the hearing, but to send in the "military" police and hold them at gunpoint is just evil. I would have died for sure because I would have resisted.
Yeh..y'all gonna resist RIGHT....and every time some jackbooted badge Nazi gets a hang nail, or shot by some citizen the whole damn "right wing" Blog'O spore starts crying about the poor dead cop. I gar-an-tee that only one in 100000 even has the guts to do more than scream "I GOT RIGHTS" while they gang rape your wife or tazer your kid to death. But please feel free to go tell the local badge scum all about your "civil rights" . I'm certain they really REALLY care about your feelings.
When, for God's sake, will someone resist this bullshit!
It sickens me to the core to read this crap every day.
Are there that few of us that are willing to die for what's right, in this sad time?
Sorry your country is broken.
