West Calls for Mexico Boycott; Free Jon Hammar

"Congressman Allen West today sided with his fellow Republican Congressmen, Duncan Hunter and Michael Grimm, in asking that Americans boycott travel to Mexico until detained Marine Corp veteran Jon Hammar is released from jail. Hammar has been jailed in a Mexican prison on a bogus weapons charge.
Apparently, Mexican officials do not seem willing to release Hammar, citing that “Mexico has had very stringent gun-control laws in place for many years, and have reinforced their application as a result of the flow of weapons illicitly purchased in the U.S. and then trafficked into Mexico and into the hands of transnational criminal organizations.”-Fox News

I haven't been to Mexico in more than 10 years, and that time flew into the resort area and back out. Never leaving the "tourist approved areas", it was relatively safe. Now I don't want to be anywhere near the border to Mexico. Why anyone would voluntarily put their lives at risk is beyond me. But if Mr. Hammar's family thinks they'll get any help from Obama or his State Department, they are sadly deluded. God help this Marine.

He should have left the shotgun at home and gone to one of the many Holder's guns and ammo outlets in Mexico. Open 24hrs a day, no cover charge any time! ;)

He's supposedly being released today.

D'oh! Thanks Montanasmama, forgot that one. Sheesh, isn't there any politicians left who believes in the Constitution?

Constitution??? Bahahahahah Every person in our government is a traitor, none of them has upheld his/her oath of office.

Mr. Hammar was lucky he was in Mexico. If this had been the US his family could have been assassinated by an FBI sniper. For the same offense.
I will never forget Ruby Ridge or Waco.
Count the number of children under 18 murdered by being burned alive by our federal government at Waco.
Sorry for being so negative, but I am pissed.

Thank God he is out. No thanks to the US Government. Now, it remains for Americans to deal with the people of Mexico concerning our relations: Americans to Mexicans. What will Mexicans do about their own government?
What will we do? Will the answer be: Nothing? Or, will Americans contemplating vacations in Mexico consider other Caribbean or Central American countries? Will Americans contemplating buying imported products (produce, beer, etc.) consider products of other countries? If we don't do our part then we are indifferent to Hammar; to say nothing of all other Americans extorted by Mexican authorities. If we don't do our part, how can we expect Mexicans to demand that their government stop abusing visitors?
I'm heartbroken about the Hammar case; mostly because I love Mexico and her people. Yet, if we won't speak to Mexico's people with our credit cards, they won't speak for us to their government.
Let's speak up first and hope Mexicans will hear our voices.
