Step Two: Seize Wealth
A bill to register gold and silver coins: It had to come. It has been introduced in Illinois, the most anti-gun state in the USA. ... Creates the Precious Metal Purchasing Act. Provides that a person who is in the business of purchasing precious metal shall obtain a proof of ownership, create a record of the sale, and verify the identity of the seller. Provides that a person who is in the business of purchasing precious metal shall not pay for the precious metal in cash and shall record the method of payment. Requires the purchaser to keep a record of the sale for one year or, if the purchase amount is over $500, for 5 years. Provides that a person who violates the Act is guilty of a petty offense and subject to a fine not exceeding $500. Provides that the Attorney General may inspect records, investigate an alleged violation, and take action to collect civil penalties. − TeaPartyEconomist.com

Fuck Them! I will never do it.
Going outside to re-zero my rifles
Reread what it actually says. It applies to people in the business of buying and selling precious metals. Many states already have the same set up for people who buy scrap metal, like copper.
Be informed, but read for comprehension. Don't just trust someone else's take on an issue.
I read it too, Chris, and what I took away from it is one more regulatory law, one more loss of freedom (would it be more ridiculous if it was buying and selling something less "precious"?), and it's a means of control. Once the law is on the books, it's easier to change definitions. Those in charge get to decide what is meant by "in the business". If I buy low, sell high and make a profit, it could be construed as "business" and subject to regulation. Mostly, it's a means to track who has what. Makes it easier to confiscate that way.
Well, I've successfully sold dope before - I guess I can go into the precious metals business. Probably not as profitable as weed, though.
I HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF GOLD AND SILVER. TONS. LIKE OMGWTF I AM TOTALLY AWASH IN PRECIOUS METALS.
(Quick...while they're looking at me, everybody else hide your shit!)
