I was both the quiet one, and the one at the back of the bus. Mostly 'cuz I can't stand to have my back exposed. I'm the same today but shows the most in where I choose to sit in restaurants.
My guess for you? Easy. I think you waited till the driver was distracted and you jumped behind the wheel and took everyone for a joy ride :)
Paladin, you won't believe this, but your answer is mine. I sat in the back seat so I was next to the escape exit, I could watch the other kids, and I could do homework or read without too much hassle. I do the same thing in restaurants. Drives my family nuts.
I usually sat wherever my seat was assigned. I hated sitting in the back, but was usually assigned there. I preferred to be quiet and read or do homework (on the way to school, of course, never on the way home) on the bus.
....still trying to figure out if doubletroubletwo is merely stating a fact, or utilizing a very cleverly disguised double-entendre. Very clever...and rather naughty. I likes!
Terry, now you sound like my Dad... Yup, uphill both ways...
Nah... I went to city schools. Didn't go too far back. All the drug dealing and pimping was going on way in the back... Nope... was always Happy to be in the middle somewhere...

I'm sensing a trend here. I can't stand having my back or flanks exposed. Always seek the tactical advantage.
I'd be in the back to smoke weed..........Ahhh, the good old days...........;)
Now I figured it was in the driver's lap.

I sat in the middle then made my way to the back :)

I sat by myself in whatever empty seat I could find--Ray
Bus? I walked. Played piano in the marching band and had to carry it home to practice. Uphill both ways in the snow in Miami.

I'll cut to the third answer.....short bus?
Millerized.... grrrrrr.
The bus was for fags.
I wasn't allowed on the bus.
Cranky, I would have picked you up and given you a ride in my tiny little Mustang.
Same thing happened in high school, I was asked to leave and never return.
