True redneck trailer house.

I honestly have relatives who would live here. I have a 2nd cousin who built a house INSIDE a 40x60 metal building with artificial grass, skylights, and HEPA air filters for his beloved bride with severe allergies. It even has a porch and swing.

I dated a girl who lived in one of these. The family was nice, but eccentric.

A local family living in a trailer tried to get a permit to build a house. It was denied multiple times. The zoning board finally hinted that they would approve an addition onto the trailer to accommodate the growing family. It is now a two story house with attached garage and still listed as a trailer since the trailer frame and wheels are still there...hanging from the first floor as joists with a basement underneath...win-win for the family, they have a full four bed 1.5 bath house but pay trailer taxes!

Cruachan!

Cruachan, sounds like the monstroscity a friend of mine owns. It started as a single wide, got an addition on one side with a foundation, an addition on the other with a basement, then the trailer got a serious face lift. The axles still hang down into the basement family room through a drop ceiling. I do believe the frame has been replaced though, and all that is left of the trailer is the front window, but it might have been rebuilt.
My son got a double wide that had a full roof with rafters plopped on it. We were going to dig next to it, pour a foundation, then frame some walls. he decided after a few months though that it was not worth it. It had just too many problems. His mom cosigned for it, and she decided she wanted possession from him. Vola, its her problem.

I read an interesting article for a hunting cabin/home in the woods using this method.
