I know some cow and hog dogs in south and east Texas,Louisiana, and in Florida that have the scars to prove that they still have the "right stuff"...at least the ones who are still alive do....
I have a 2 yo male German Shepherd that is 97 pounds of muscle and fur. On the next block over lives this tiny Yorkie that can't weigh more than a pound soaking wet. Nearly every time I walk my dog around that side of the block that Yorkie will come charging out to the street snarling and growling and barking at me and Max. He's not intimidated at all and wants us both gone from his territory. Remember, it's not the size of the dog in the fight.
Yeah, my mutt is scared from firecracker report, I make it a point to pet her quite a bit when that is going on outside. I can actually feel her trembling, poor thing. Those days, I feed her early in afternoon, because I know she will be off her feed when the festivities begin.

Don't bash Yorkies. They're tough little things for how small they are and Smokey the Yorkie was a hero during WWII.
Grandpa had a 2 legged dog that road in his tank through the whole war.
