I had a bag of 50 rounds, purchased from Georgia Arms at a gun show in Virginia. .45ACP. Moving from one shelf to another in my arsenal stockpile. I dropped the bag and one round detonated on impact with the ground. I am guessing the weight of the bagged rounds, plus inertia from falling to the floor, was enough to dent the primer on the edge of another cartridge.
No, I didn't capture it on high resolution video while it happened. Yes, it did most certainly happen. I still buy bagged ammo, but I transfer them to boxes for storage and handling. Detonations without containment in the chamber of a weapon are not particularly life threatening. The plastic bag retained all the shrapnel from the split casing. The bullet was found about 4 feet away.

Too long for .45ACP - appears to be 9mm Parabellum to me.
I would say too long in the case for 9x19 - maybe 9x23 or .38 Super Comp basically a rimless .38 Super Auto.
It doesn't seem semi-rimmed like .38 Super Auto, but it would be hard to see 70 thou of rim in that blurry photo.
My vote is for .45 ACP
Bad idea. Cartridges in bags, dropped from a couple of feet can detonate primers. Been there. Done that.
