My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it!

During the Carter Interregnum Fed. DOT and Virginia DOT put up signs between DC and Richmond. Signs had both miles and kilometers.
The km markings were painted over.
VDOT cleaned them.
Painted over again.
VDOT cleaned again.
Finally the kilometer markings were TORCHED out of the signs.
VDOT told Fed DOT "We give up."

Prince William Co. Parkway has KM sighs ... very small signs ... well away from the road.

If God had meant for man to use the metric system, Jesus would have only had 10 disciples.

In Delaware, when rout 1 was built ( which runs the length on the state 111 miles) had km signage put up. That lasted 10 years. Every one hated it. Then miles signs put up with small km signs. Now just miles but all the exits have km number designations. If you travel highways a lot and use mile Markers to tell how soon to the next exit it will not work here.
