Freaking brilliant, don't care who you are

Worst thing about picnicking in Texas summers is trying to keep your drinks cold. This is outright redneck genius. Couple of drain plugs in the bottom, put your beer or sodas in there while you're eating your barbequed pig meat, drinks never get hot.

Pig meat? in Texas? Sacrilege.

I'm an equal opportunity carnivore.

I must concur. Best case, pig meat in Texas is marginally acceptable as a side dish. This level of sacrilege demands a reprimand, if not a ban.

If you don't know how to ban yourself, I'm sure Wirecutter could tutor you, for a small but nominal fee.

Fine, when I pit a pig at the Blogger Blowout, y'all don't have to partake.

That is brilliant!

Even if you don't drink alcohol, it'll keep your Coke cold.

Hmmm ... y'all over there, with your pig and WirecutterSelectedAndApproved(r) iced selection of Kalifornia white wines, and us'n over here, with left-side* prime or Yagyu briskets smoked over oak or pecan** and Shiner Bocks.

We're not prejudiced, however. Y'all can come over and partake whenever you'd like. But you might want to leave the white wine over there.

*Briskets from the left side are more tender.

**Pecan, with a soupcon of cherry wood added. Peach wood optional, in case anyone from Georgia is attending.

Parks and campgrounds should have this feature on their tables.

Love the idea!

Speaking as one from the South, we use it as an early warning system to let us know if any muslims are at our BBQ. Pork: it's not just for breakfast anymore.

Leigh - that's because external ice is not needed to keep drinks cold in NY
