Wild Bill Hickok and Two-Handed Shooting

I really need to work on left-handed draw and shooting. Let's face it, I suck. Inhale vociferously.
I'm so freaking right handed, the only use for my left hand is, well, still haven't found one yet. Found this article at the Daily Caller and thought is was really interesting. How many of y'all are proficient with both hands? How many of you practice firing with both simultaneously?

"It’s not perfect, but peripheral vision can be a definite asset in dealing with such an idea. Don’t we all have the ability to point with fingers, without having to specifically look at what we’re pointing at? Point shooting is partly based on this principle. It’s not target shooting, but most combat shooting is nothing like target shooting, especially at ranges under 10 yards."

Weak side one handed drawing, shooting and reloading are regular part of my practice. Both hot at the range and dry with dummy rounds.
Includes racking the slide one handed. All of my 1911's can be cocked using the rear sight.
I do not shoot with both hands simultaneously. I drive the range safety officer batshit now.

Saw that technique in some FBI movie one time so me and Dave tried it the next time we went to the hills.
Used both mine and his Colt Officer's Models, set a target at 10 yards and unloaded both 45s on it at once. Hit the target once out of 14 rounds.
Reloaded, and tried it again with aimed shots and hit the bullseye 14 times.
I'm right-handed with a dominant left eye so I think I have some advantage there - I shoot equally well with either hand.

I hadn't read the article when I answered your questions. Interesting. Two additional notes, I do shoot from low ready at 3-5 yards (waist high) and "front sight, press".
Do you work on your trigger resets?

Get yourself a set of snap caps, ie dummy rounds, and dry fire till you are sick of it. You can teach yourself left hand shooting. I used to have a small problem with my left hand tracking too far to the right on the state post course during left hand only shooting. Now I shoot great. Lots of dry fire.

That's a really good idea. I'm left handed. All I can do with my right hand is turn a door knob and pick my nose. Try brushing your teeth with your off hand, it's quite a challenge at first, but good for the brain.
Uhh, you do have toothbrushes in Texas, right?
I keed, I keed!

Lefty shooting has now been placed in the top 3 to-do's for this year. I've got to get at least passable with my left.

And rpm, yes we have toothbrushes. I'm keeping count, darlin'. That's two for you...

I was serious about the tooth brushing idea. Try it. You'll feel pretty uncoordinated at first but you'll get better at it. Then go shooting.

Practicing with your left hand is a good idea but duel wielding like that is bunk. If a couple of guys are shooting back, you are done.

I am really right-handed too. About 10 years ago I broke my right humerus and the hardest thing to learn with my left arm was wiping my ass.

When my mom had her first stroke, I was there right through rehab. I then swore I would spend the rest of my life working my weak side (right). That way, when my time came, it would not be quite so excruciating!

As for shooting, with both hands - I blow big time!

Y'all do realize that it was an Okie that invented toothbrushes, right?
It had to be - if anybody else had invented them they'd be called TEETHbrushes.
