My First Edged (defensive) Weapon

SOG Aegis Tanto TiNi Knife AE-04

After being so thoroughly thrilled with my Kershaw kitchen knives from Two Point Enterprises, (see link in sidebar if you haven't already), I decided it was time to take the plunge and get a carry knife. I mean, the worst damage I'd done to myself with the Kershaws was slicing very thin sheets of flesh from fingers while slicing veggies, so why not? I spent an afternoon looking at the folding knives, reading the descriptions, watching the vids and contemplating. But it was this little darlin' that kept calling me back. Ordered Tuesday afternoon, WITH engraving, received this afternoon. I am so excited. Now I just have to get comfortable drawing it and opening without losing a digit. Thank you so much, Dennis Thompson, you rock.

Thank you, rpm. I bet you say that to all the knife-carrying ladies. ;-)

Thanks, I don't know all of them. Yet.

Then it's fun and games? I'm in.

Don't cut yourself playing with your new toy.

And remember to keep the damned thing sharp. Folks get hurt more with a dull one than with a sharp one.

Nice blade!! Carefull with that folder. I was cutting up a deer back in the 70s with a buck folder and bound up the spring cutting a leg joint. The damn thing broke on me and almost cut off my right index finger. Ray

Yes Uncle Bob, I'll be careful. ;-)

Ray, IF I have to use it, I won't be hanging around long enough to be cutting through leg joints. And if it IS a situation in which the, um, body needs to be dismembered, I think I can find something more useful. Like a chainsaw.

Nice blade Angel, I carry a Boker Automat smooth blade but your blade is very nice. Helpful tip. if you go to car shows be careful with your riveted pockets and knife clip.

Dennis is good people. You made a Wiserangel choice there, Girl.

Thanks wirecutter. I likes it. :-) And I really don't miss my pinky tip.

I was amazed at how fast it was, 72 hour turn around. Is that normal, or am I just "special"?

You are special. I carry a fixed blade so I can cut my finger that much more quickly.

Thank you, rpm. :-)
Wait, is that "special special"? Or "short bus special"?

I'm pretty good opening, but have to use both hands to close. But wc says it's okay, closing isn't nearly as important as opening it.

Good special.

I think you're good special, too, even if you do occasionally pull my pig-tails.

Now you've done it. Once you let the knife genie out of the bottle you can't put it back in.... believe me, I've tried.

It starts out with the simple idea of having a quality tool at hand for when you need it - or maybe a fall back defensive weapon. Then one morning you wake up to discover that you are carrying three different knives at all times with three times that many tucked away in drawers, vehicles, rangbags, etc.

Mrs. Paladin and I engaged in unprotected whittleing, and now she's infected too. :)

Very sweet blade. Give it a few weeks and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Stick 'em with the pointy end, then slice tender spots that pulse.

Good selection.
