My grandparents on both sides had basements in Ohio. I was about 6 or 7, and yes. As a plus, I had an older cousin that conviced me that monsters were down there, in the attic, creeping up the stairs...that asshole could have given Stephen King a run for his money.

Basements are fun. Abandoned house basements are even better, especially the root cellar kind.
What's a cellar?
We don't have that shit down here.
orbitup, a root cellar is basicly a man made cave for storing vegies, and also serves as a storm shelter.
