Damn kids

A little background on this one. It wasn't really meant to be funny, or a dig at wirecutter's advanced years (he's a LOT older than me). It's a commentary on his anachronistic qualities. I've always felt he belonged in a much earlier time. Colonial America, Old West, at the very latest pre-1900. He has qualities of a True Man that fit in a much earlier, simpler time.

But God placed him in America, mid-century, and primed to defend The Constitution.
Possibly for a second time.

Smokepoles teach you better marksmanship. And enhance that much vaunted "gnarly old guy" look for which you yearn.

Yeah - I'm guilty

Lost part of a beard to a smokepole once. Left hand shooting and flintlocks don't always go together.

Thanks, that explains the Grizzly Adams / backwoods trapper hair thing. Now can you explain the wirecutter screen name?

Hawken Cougar - I collect antique barbed wire. I've been accused of fence cutting for a desirable strand.
Actually, when I finally got online and connected with other wire collectors I needed a fancy screen name. I've been Wirecutter ever since. Even my mother's called me that a time or two.

Angel, I was raised better than to comment on a woman's age - especially a middle aged one.

BRB - I gotta google anachronistic.

Can somebody decipher this for me please?

An anachronism (from the Greek ἀνά ana, "against" and χρόνος khronos, "time"), is a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of person(s), events, objects, or customs from different periods of time.

I mean really, what. the. fuck.

You're an 18th century soul in the 21st century world. AN-ACHRON-FUCKING-ISM.

And no matter what, I'll still be younger than you.

Anachronisms happens to the best of writers. Fer instance Will Shakespeare had a reference to "a striking clock" in "Julius Caesar."

I'm astounded. I thought his 'milk' smokepole was a matchlock, or at latest, a wheelock.

Of course, it's not completely improbably that those ~3.3 million year old tools recently found in Kenya aren't his.

Fuck you, Ian.

Kenny, take it as the compliment that I am sure Angel meant it to be.
