(Just an example, not an endorsement of the candidate)
Well, the season is upon us, the campaign ads are flooding the airwaves and I've noticed a common theme locally in the Texas state and national campaigns. Every single Republican candidate here has at least one, and most have more than one, ad proclaiming them to be ready and willing to defend the Constitution of the United States. Mostly the Second Amendment, but there are several that just say "uphold and defend the Constitution". I don't see many Democrat ads here because, well, it'd be pounding money down a rat hole. The Panhandle is more conservative than nun panties.
So how are the ads sounding in your neck of the woods? Anyone else hearing the key phrase "defend the Constitution"? Do you think they're truly getting that this is something that needs to be done? Or are they just using a key phrase to hook the voters?
The Cute Chicks came down with pink eye Saturday, and I woke up with it terrorizing my right eye yesterday morning. We're all getting treatment (which means I hold down two autistic teens every 4 hours to schmear eye ointment in their eyes, and then do it to myself which is, surprisingly, harder), but light is not my friend. I'm sitting here in the dark in sunglasses trying to type with sticky tears running down my cheeks, so not cool.
So until further notice, y'all are just going to have to do without me. Talk amongst yourselves. Laters.
I'm bumping this up to the top today. It's important.
I've always known how blessed we are to live in the United States; as fucked up as she's gotten over the years, there is still no better place to be. You have opportunities here than you can't get anywhere else, this is truly the land of milk and honey. But sometimes, even in the land of plenty, you'll hit a dry spot. A rough patch that doesn't seem like much, just a few things here and there, nickel and dime shit. But it suddenly becomes quicksand, each little thing sucking you down deeper, and the harder you try to escape, the faster you get sucked under.
It's estimated that the majority of American households are one major emergency away from financial disaster. Most everyone I know lives paycheck to paycheck; most know how to juggle bills like a Cirque du Soleil master. Pay this, that can slide, I can pay these credit card minimums with this credit card, and next month will be better. I can't tell you how many times I've pawned my wedding ring for just one more week until payday, with the hope of making it to tax return so that I can catch up. Every year was the same intricate financial ballet. And I was blessed with the Power of Enough. I'd have something happen, a $300 repair bill on the momvan or $150 on the heater, need $80 to get me over the hump, and open a refund check from some overpayment on a doctor bill that was just.....enough.
Carl, blogger of Sick of the Status Quo, is in the quicksand. From what I understand, and I can so relate, the avalanche started with a car issue, his truck's transmission crapped out on him and he can't afford to get it fixed and he needs transportation to get back and forth to work. Been there, done that, seriously sucks. Then the anxiety hits, and this has sent him to the hospital. And he sinks further in the quicksand.
While the nickels and dimes can drag you down, so can they pull you out. None of us has a fortune to give; but if you have anything, or if you're in his AO and can contact him with transportation help, I know he'd appreciate it.
Yeah, the last one I posted was a spoof, as is this one. But I can actually see this one happening. I could swear as I read it, I heard R. Lee Ermey's voice in the lead. If you're technologically challenged as is your lovely hostess, then you can relate. Oh, and don't forget to read the comments, bonus gold.
Thanks to terry from fla for the link.
“Sonofabitch, I said print,” screamed Sgt. Maj. William Baker. “When I hit ‘print’ that means you fucking print shit I wanted printed!” Sheets of paper and keyboard keys filled the air as the sergeant major’s onslaught intensified.
THIS is the Obama generation in all of it's self-absorbed, participation trophy, better/smarter/more moral than you because I'm an organic vegan idiocy. Stupid little bitch posted on social network her resignation and why, and her boss answered. Brilliantly. Click the link and scroll all the way through. The ending will have you cheering.
And you dudes owe this to your beloveds. That adorable scoundrel stevierayv of Your Crazy Uncle Bubba has done the unthinkable. He's instituted Willy Wednesday for the ladies. Now, unlike his notorious titty and leg posts that end up being rife with nipples, there isn't an actual willy (limp or rigid) to be seen in this post. Not that I'm that disappointed, a man's whoo-haw and doo-daws are not the most atractive part of his anatomy. Functional, yes, attractive, no. He needs page views to keep doing this, so go drool.
OMG!!!! And how have I missed Xeno's testosterone-soaked offerings over at The Voices in My Head?????? Sheee-it! He's been posting hunks for a while, all lovingly chosen by his beautiful bride who has incredible taste in beefcake. Apparently, she's one of the voices in his head.
A Clarion Project investigation has discovered a jihadist enclave in Texas where a deadly shooting took place in 2002. Declassified FBI documents obtained byClarion confirm the find and show the U.S. government’s concern about its links to terrorism. The investigation was completed with help from ACT! For America Houston.
The enclave belongs to the network of Muslims of the Americas, a radical group linked to a Pakistani militant group called Jamaat ul-Fuqra. Its members are devoted followers of Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, an extremist cleric in Pakistan.
Here are the basic facts. There is a large group of Muslims who want a caliphate in the United States. There's a larger group of Americans who don't want a caliphate in the United States. There is a very small, very quiet group of "moderate" Muslims who are very quietly going "no, that's wrong, we're the religion of peace, please don't hurt us". And I'd be willing to bet the silent moderates will face more danger from their more vocal and violent brethren than from us. But my final word is I will not change for your barbaric practices. And if you threaten me and mine, you'd better be prepared. I won't go down cringing and begging.
And apparently they feel as lost as we do. The key is to have as much organized and in place in advance. Something they can find and fit into when the bullets start flying. I'm conflicted about the Oathkeepers thing. Yes, if you're drawing a salary to enforce unconstitutional laws, then you aren't upholding the oath you took. But in the case of a soldier who thinks he's doing right and then finds himself betrayed and abandoned by the country he thought he was defending. How do you extricate yourself? When is the time to go AWOL? How do you plan and prep when under threat of arrest and imprisonment? I pray for them all. Those who know they need to get out, but mostly for those who still don't see it.
excerpt from the email:
Our best efforts will only be when they place us on orders against you. That is when we will know what soldiers will bleed for you and which are loyal to this regime. That is when we will give and go AWOL and fight. At this time, I do not see even that going well. It will be chaotic, at best. We will need help and it won’t be just the traitors in the Army we will fight. There will be other Americans, our own neighbors, friends and family who will stand by this president and we will be required to put down our own.
This correlates with my III post from Saturday. Trolls will be trolls. They have nothing positive to offer because their sole purpose is self-entertainment and enjoyment, they are pot-stirrers with big ole shit sticks. Trolls are not there to advance the discussion or offer any positive input, that doesn't satisfy their craving for attention and gratification. If they can make you lose your shit and get down in the mud with 'em, that's a sure-fire hard on. We've seen these people on Facebook and hitting various blogs, tossing little shit grenades and trying to create dissension and, in some very extreme cases, outright conflict. My un-professional diagnosis for most of the Patriot trolls is Machiavellian and/or narcissist, a deep-seated need for recognition and approval with a touch of manipulative opportunism.
So what to do with a troll?
Ignore him. Starve him. Don't give him the attention and validation that his twisted little soul craves. If they can't get their negativity fix, they'll move on to greener pastures. But getting down in the mud with them only gets you and those around you filthy and frustrated.
Here ya go, folks. From their own mouths. There are no "radical" Muslims, just Muslims. And they all think that Sharia and jihad and beheadings and stonings, etc. are not extreme. They are from Allah, and it's all good. So, what do normal Patriots think?
Yes, we know you're men and are hardwired to "solve and/or fix problems". But you need to know that we don't always want/need you to solve/fix our problems. 99% of the time we just need you to listen while we vent. And then, well, you know....
Earlier this week, there was a verbal exchange, a dust-up if you will, on Facebook between two factions (for lack of a better word) of the III community. I started this post that night, but that little voice in my head that keeps me from chasing down idiots on I-40 and beating them with a tire iron told me to sit on it for a few days. Time and clarity are my friends.
In January, I had an article published in III Magazine about some of the basic concerns "outsiders" have about the III community. Negativity, -isms and a certain closed-off attitude are the three biggies. But this post is going to be about negativity. I basically feel if you have time to troll other people's blogs and hack and snipe, and THEN go to another site and snipe behind the other person's back, you've got too much time on your hands. That's time better spent getting your own shit together. Days later, this still pisses me off and this may be a jumbled ass mess. Bear with me.
First, let me state my position; my personal identity in the Patriot community. I'm not a III% in the true sense of the term. My age, gender and position as the cute chicks sole protector and provider when SHTF will prevent me from standing with the III on the Green. I consider myself part of the X%, if you will. I will offer comfort, aid, and support to the III Patriots in whatever way I'm able. I will tend to the wounded and dying, feed, clothe and care for as many Patriots as I'm capable of doing while still tending my girls. They will always come first for me. And yes, I have had "the revelation". I will fight until I run out of ammo and options; and I have made the hard decision about what to do with the cute chicks. I know they won't survive without me, and I will NOT allow the government to make that decision. Anyway, this is why you'll never see me sign off with a III or put it after my name. I have too much respect for the men (and women) who will actually serve in that capacity to puff myself up with that designation.
Now, my beef. I've spent the last, geez, almost two years? Time flies. Anywhoo, two years of observing and talking to various Patriots from Kerodin and Wirecutter to a lot of y'all who've become family to me. I've talked to others, both through blogs and on FB, branching out into the wide world of Patriot and III. What I've discovered is that you can tell who's had "the revelation" and who is still on their personal playground in their mind going "pew pew pew". Those who are serious and those who are playing Tyrants and Patriots.
The serious ones are too busy making preparations, planning, scouting, training, organizing, networking, and building to troll. They are too focused on the Coming Storm to hunt down and shit on other Patriots. They are the ones who realize that there are many paths to the same destination; and if someone chooses a different path headed to the Green, then God speed and we'll see you there. The serious Patriots know that every able bodied person is needed in the coming fight and to try to tear them down because they don't think EXACTLY like "we" do is counterproductive. This is where my Libertarian streak comes through. Different does not mean "wrong". If something another Patriot does, believes or practices does not march in lockstep with what you do/believe/practice, that does not make them wrong. And it does NOT give you the right to try and stop them, by words or deeds. If some one's path is about to take them over a cliff, yeah, you might want to point it out to them; but it's ultimately up to that person to change their direction. Not yours.
People on the fringes are watching and listening to everything we do and say. Patriots who are out there looking for other Patriots are watching and listening. Whether they decide to back us depends on what they see in us. Are we showing our best face? Or are they seeing a bunch of petty, bitchy backbiting little cuntcakes too self-absorbed with their own importance in the III community to come together in a strong coalition, a cohesive fighting force? When you post, comment, Facebook, tweet or any other "public" form of communication, what impression are you giving? Are you showing the face of a Patriot who's made the decision, or are you showing the face of a poser who's worried about his "place in history"? Frankly, some of the stuff I read makes me want to weep for our future. Make no mistake, this isn't a Call of Duty game, this is real. When it drops, blood will flow and Patriots will die. If we can't get our shit together better than this, we're truly fucked.
Now you may comment. I'm a big girl, I can take it.
