They have Scottish thistle in the land of kilts, and they do regimental. I think they'd be okay in Texas. ;) Besides that, the Highland Regiments wore their kilts in Egypt and Africa.
Anon 10:57 here - its not low hanging junk, walking around the thick Texas brush, you have to bend over (not THAT way!) to walk under it. The edge of a kilt would likely get stepped on and you fall. Never worn a kilt, but have tripped stepping on the front edge of a rain poncho that same thing as well as stepping on it when climbing a ladder - we laughed and laughed.
