Right to be different punished

We live in America, right? Land of the free, home of the brave? Rights to individuality are celebrated, cherished, protected. There are freaking Gay Rights Parades celebrating certain individuals' rights to live differently. It's a beautiful, rainbow-colored freakshow of Personal Liberty.

But choose to live "off the grid", without relying on the largesse of your local government overlords, eschew dependence on "modern conveniences", and they lose their freaking minds. A Fla. city has decided to evict a woman from her home because they decided her choice to live off the grid was "unsafe". She's perfectly happy and healthy in her home, but that doesn't matter. Enjoy the irony, kicking someone out of a home that suits them perfectly and forcing them into homelessness.

"A Fla. city is set to evict a widow for her unique lifestyle of “living off the grid.”
Robin Speronis told WFTX-TV that she was given an eviction notice after the station aired a story about how she chooses to live in a home without modern amenities, such as running water and electricity.:"

NOTE: 'According to WFTX-TV, the notice cited "INTERNATIONAL" property maintenance code which said the property is not safe to live in.'

There are 2 small enclaves of people that choose to live that way outside of the town I live in. They seem to get along just fine and seem to be happier with their lifestyle than most of us are with our own chosen life styles. They're called Amish, I kind of envy them too, but it's way too much work for my fat lazy butt.

We had a fellow in St George who lived off grid. no electricity, gas, or water. The town has a nice natural spring, and he got his water from there. The only utility he was connected to was sewer. I often wondered what we would do if he didn't pay his bill. Kind hard to cut it off.
The IPMC is a bunch of crap. It should be unlawful for a city to force it down peoples throats. Compliance should be voluntary. As for those nice folks, feathers, tar, rail, some assembly required.
