A very Merry Christmas

I received this from WiscoDave a couple of days ago and wanted it to be my sole Christmas Post. The song is hauntingly beautiful and the words touching.
May each of you dear friends have a merry Christmas and a very blessed New Year.

Back when I did Rev War each Sunday we would read the names of those from the group who had died listing their rank and their unit. We would reverse our muskets and as a group sing the stanza in red.

This song was originally used instead of "Auld Lang Syne."

God Bless each of you and those that you hold dear.

Merry Christmas, my friends...

The Parting Glass (High Kings version)

Of all the money that e'er I had,
I spent it in good company.
And all the harm I've ever done,
alas it was to none but me.
And all I've done for want of wit
to mem'ry now I can't recall;
So fill to me the parting glass,
Good night and joy be to you all.

CHORUS
[So] fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate’er befalls
And gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

Of all the comrades that e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away.
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had,
They'd wish me one more day to stay.
But since it fell unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Good night and joy be to you all.

CHORUS [omit “so”], [instrumental break, humming]

But since it fell unto my lot,
That I should rise and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Good night and joy be to you all.
CHORUS, repeat last line of chorus
